If you are not yet aware, as of November 15th, 2024, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) went on a nationwide strike, halting all Canada Post delivery services. No mail will be processed while this strike is ongoing, so The Celestial Squirrel, along with many other small businesses, have had to seek temporary alternatives.
For the time being, we will be using Chit Chats to ship all of our products (with the exception of our POD apparel items which are fulfilled by Printful). This is a tracked and reliable service with similar delivery times to Canada Post.
However, because this service is more difficult for us to access and requires a bit of travel on our part, we have had to increase our processing times from 1-3 days to 5-7 days.
What does this mean for you?
Previously we had a shipping schedule of every other day, which included weekends. We will now be shipping 1-2 times per week, and can no longer ship on weekends.
We are hopeful Canada Post will do the right thing and negotiate in favour of the CUPW's demands (which include fair wages and safe working conditions), so that the workers can return to the job that they love, serving our communities and small businesses like ours.
